What We Do

Investment policy and governance. The Investment Policy Statement is the governing instrument of the relationship — objectives, allocation ranges, liquidity requirements, spending provisions, and the decision rights that keep a portfolio coherent through committee turnover. It is written to be understood by a trustee joining next year, not only by the people who drafted it.

Portfolio construction and management. Discretionary or advisory management against that policy: asset allocation, manager due diligence and selection, rebalancing, and risk oversight on a multi-custodial platform. Open-architecture selection means each mandate draws on the strategies best suited to it.

Spending policy and liquidity. Distribution requirements, donor restrictions, and grantmaking cycles shape a portfolio's liquidity profile in ways a generic allocation does not accommodate. Cash flow is planned around the organization's actual obligations.

Committee support and reporting. Reporting a committee can take to its board without translation, alongside the education and onboarding that allow new members to participate meaningfully from their first meeting.

Mission alignment. For many institutions, the defining question is whether the corpus is working in the same direction as the grants. Through Invest with Impact, alignment is defined by the committee, mapped against the seventeen UN Sustainable Development Goals, written into policy, and reported against alongside conventional performance.

The measure of the work is not what happens during any one committee's tenure. It is what holds after.

Investing with Impact

Invest with Impact is Sankalpa's initiative for nonprofit organizations, foundations, and endowments seeking to align the portfolio with the mission it exists to fund. Where ESG ratings assess how a company operates, the program maps capital against the seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — a framework describing what that capital is financing, specific enough for a board or investment committee to approve, monitor, and hand to its successors. The goals are selected by the committee and written into the Investment Policy Statement, so alignment becomes a governing instruction rather than an informal preference. Portfolios are then built to those goals and reported against them alongside conventional performance, on the same schedule and in the same detail.
